Arrow Trekking and Safaris – Conquer Africa’s most iconic peaks with expertly crafted mountain adventures.
Mount Meru, standing tall at 4,566 meters (14,980 feet), is Tanzania’s second-highest peak and offers one of the most scenic and diverse trekking experiences in East Africa. Located in Arusha National Park, this 3-day trek is a perfect challenge for trekkers looking for an alternative to Mount Kilimanjaro or an acclimatization climb before tackling Kilimanjaro.
This trek takes you through lush montane forests, where you can spot giraffes, buffalos, elephants, and colobus monkeys, and up to the alpine desert and rocky summit ridges of Socialist Peak. With fewer crowds than Kilimanjaro, it’s an intimate and authentic trekking experience, providing breathtaking views of Kilimanjaro, the Great Rift Valley, and the Maasai Steppe.

The trek kicks off through the lush montane forest, home to giraffes, buffalos, warthogs, and black-and-white colobus monkeys. As you ascend, you’ll cross streams, waterfalls, and open glades, offering plenty of opportunities to see wildlife and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
The hike is gentle but steady, preparing you for the altitude gain. By late afternoon, you'll reach Miriakamba Hut (2,514m), a cozy mountain hut with bunk beds, dining areas, and ranger accommodations. Here, you’ll enjoy a hot meal and breathtaking sunset views over the plains.

I recommend Isaack and his office if you are planning a safari and Kilimanjaro hicking in Tanzania. Toby W2025-01-06Verified Highly recommend Sensational experience climbing to the summit of Kilii!10/10 would recommend Arrow Trekking.Great food, camping gear, and people! Vittal M2024-05-07Verified My family and I highly recommend! Thanks for the trip of a lifetime Arrow Trekking & Safaris driver, we met in Arusha and took off, traveling to Tarangire NP, Lake Eyasi, the Serengeti, the Ngorongoro Crater, Mount Meru, and Lake Natron before flying to Zanzibar. We experienced how the Hadzabe tribes live while on a day-long culture tour near Lake Eyasi; the highlights for that day included my sister getting "married" to a Hanzabe tribesman and our failure at using a bow. I was even able to buy one of the Hadzabe instruments with the help of Alex, our local guide. Also, according to Mr lsaack, we were super lucky, as we were witness to both a leopard eating in a tree and a lion using our vehicle as shade while traveling through the Serengeti. The time we spent in Tanzania was off-the-charts amazing and heaping in culture. Arrow Trekking $ Safaris is full of friendly staff, who are willing to work with budgetary restraints and add customizable additions to trips. My family and I highly recommend! Thanks for the trip of a lifetime Prajwal G2024-05-07Verified Amazing safari day was great Arrow Trekking & Safaris had offered plenty of activities during our trip in Tanzania such as an hot air balloon ride, visit to the local Masai village and of course the brilliant safari. Honestly, if you are debating on whether to come here, don’t and just come here. I cannot recommend this company enough. Imran N2024-05-05Verified That was very incredible! We traveled to the Serengeti, Kilimanjaro, and Zanzibar, all of which had the most incredible accommodations. We learned a great deal from this adventure. Which accommodation should we select? Which is the best option as they are all so different from one another? What time of day would be best to go? How many nights should we spend in each location? When planning an amazing safari, the little things matter most: travel dates, packing lists, bush aircraft, and distances. We heartily recommend Arrow Trekking and Safaris. Gavli G2024-05-04Verified We appreciate Arrow Trekking & Safaris for planning our day excursion. We appreciate Arrow Trekking & Safaris for planning our day excursion. Everything went exactly as planned, including the pickup from our Nungwi hotel and the shared charter aircraft to Mikumi from Zanzibar Airport. We saw elephants, buffalo, wildebeests, zebras, lions, leopards, and many other species at the park, including hippos in the swimming pool. There were numerous crocodiles and hippos present. We are generally pleased with their organization, and the cost was reasonable. We heartily urge everyone to use them when going on a day safari from Zanzibar Island. Dabhirajsinh D2024-05-03Verified Amazing experience In May 2024, our group of four members went on a safari and a Kilimanjaro climb with Isaack from Arrow Trekking. We had an amazing vacation, and the personnel took excellent care of us throughout. The value for the money was outstanding and the service was excellent. There was meticulous attention to detail, and everything was precisely customized to meet our wants and desires. Both the safari and the climb are excellent substitutes for the bigger, more established organizations that are based outside of Tanzania, in my opinion. It was a once-in-a-lifetime vacation, and we are thankful to Isaack and his crew for making it so amazing and unforgettable! Quinnetou2024-04-26Verified Arrows Safari Special Inner Crater, Summit Camp I have known Isaac for 15 years. We have climbed Kilimanjaro twice together. Machame Route and Lemosho Route (via Arrows Camp) each time to the Northern Icefields and Inner Crater. Hardly anyone else does that and it is an experience that brings tears to your eyes. He also arranges an overnight stay on the summit...,,As I work in Tanzania every year, I am in regular contact. We have become friends. Of course you give a friend a good rating. But I can separate the two. His service and reliability are excellent. His employees are friendly and helpful. Oliver Crombach2024-01-06Verified Brilliant crew made the trek a success I climbed Mt Kilimanjaro with arrow trekking and safari and it was excellent. Isaak was the perfect host, he organised everything and nothing was a problem. The hotel before and after were comfortable and in good location. The guides and crew were extremely knowledgeable and made the climb a success. I hired a few pieces of equipment that I needed and it was perfect for the trip. I have no hesitation in recommending Isaak and his team to anyone thinking of climbing Mt Kilimanjaro and might climb again when my children are older. Michael S2023-11-19Verified Great adventure! We arrived in Arusha without a Safari booked. After visiting 3 offices, we chose Arrow Trekking & Safaris. During the meeting, we chose one of the available scenarios and additionally modified it to suit our preferences. After a 4-day Safari, I can honestly recommend Isaack's office because: 1. He was flexible from start to finish, 2. We had a great car with an even better driver/guide (Apollo❤️), 3. Accommodation and meals were at a great level, 4. The chosen itinerary recommended by Isaack turned out to be the perfect one, 5. After returning, we had transport to the airport, 6. We felt safe and taken care of. I sincerely recommend Isaack and his office if you are planning a safari in Tanzania. You can text him on WhatsApp +255 788 500 333.
