The adventure begins with a transfer from Moshi to Marangu Gate. At the gate, you'll register with Kilimanjaro National Park authorities while observing the vibrant activity of trekkers and porters. The trek starts through lush rainforest trails filled with vibrant flora and fauna. The path is well-defined but can be muddy, so gaiters and trekking poles are recommended. Keep an eye out for colobus monkeys swinging through the trees as you ascend to Mandara Hut, where you'll spend your first night on the mountain.
After breakfast, the trail leaves the rainforest behind, transitioning into moorland. The landscape opens up, revealing sweeping views of the mountain. You'll pass through scenic spots like Maundi Crater, offering excellent vantage points for photography. The trek gradually ascends, allowing for proper acclimatization. You'll reach Horombo Hut in the afternoon, where you'll be treated to stunning views of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. Enjoy a hot meal and rest for the night.
Today’s trek takes you into the alpine desert zone. The trail ascends steadily, with dramatic changes in vegetation and terrain. You’ll pass the “Last Water Point,” as the trail becomes drier and more barren. The climb continues across the Saddle, a vast plateau stretching between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. Upon arrival at Kibo Hut, you'll settle in and prepare for the summit attempt. Get an early dinner and rest as much as possible.
The summit attempt begins at midnight. Equipped with headlamps, you’ll trek through the icy night, ascending steeply to Gilman’s Point (5,685 m) on the crater rim. From here, a gradual ascent leads to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Witness a breathtaking sunrise and take celebratory photos before descending. After reaching Kibo Hut for a short break, continue to Horombo Hut for the night, exhausted but accomplished.
The final day begins with a descent through moorland and lush rainforest, retracing your steps to Marangu Gate. The descent is rewarding, as you reflect on your journey and enjoy the vibrant vegetation. At the gate, you’ll receive your summit certificates. Our team will then transfer you back to Moshi for a well-earned rest.

The 5 days Marangu Route offers a classic and comfortable way to climb Kilimanjaro, making it one of the most popular choices for first-time trekkers. Expect a clear, well-trodden path with gentle terrain and fewer steep sections. This makes the 5 days Marangu Route ideal for beginners and those looking for a less physically demanding way to climb Kilimanjaro.

We were assisted by Isaack throughout our whole stay in Tanzania. He arranged our safari, Mt. Kilimanjaro hike, accommodation, and transport. Everything went very smooth and Isaack was always available when we had questions, we could count on him when needed. Furthermore, his English is very good and he handles in a transparent way. Overall, we had a very positive experience and would definitely recommend Arrow trekking for people looking to visit Tanzania!Posted on Miria vVerified Incredible 4-Day Camping Safari The 4-day camping safari was truly incredible! It was full of adventure from start to finish—sleeping under the stars, waking up to the sounds of the wild, connecting with the other people in the same safari and exploring breathtaking landscapes. Our guide was fantastic, and we saw SO much wildlife; the Big Five but also much more! The only downside was that the itinerary and campsite were different from what I had originally agreed on, and I only found out at the start of the safari. Still, the experience itself was so great that it didn’t take away from the trip at all.Highly recommended for anyone looking for a raw, exciting, and unforgettable safari adventure!Posted on Clement DVerified Great ascent! Thanks for the trip of a lifetime Arrow Trekking & Safaris driver, we met in Arusha and took off, traveling to Tarangire NP, Lake Eyasi, the Serengeti, the Ngorongoro Crater, Mount Meru, and Lake Natron before flying to Zanzibar. We experienced how the Hadzabe tribes live while on a day-long culture tour near Lake Eyasi; the highlights for that day included my sister getting "married" to a Hanzabe tribesman and our failure at using a bow. I was even able to buy one of the Hadzabe instruments with the help of Alex, our local guide. Also, according to Mr lsaack, we were super lucky, as we were witness to both a leopard eating in a tree and a lion using our vehicle as shade while traveling through the Serengeti. The time we spent in Tanzania was off-the-charts amazing and heaping in culture. Arrow Trekking $ Safaris is full of friendly staff, who are willing to work with budgetary restraints and add customizable additions to trips. My family and I highly recommend! Thanks for the trip of a lifetimePosted on Prajwal GVerified Amazing safari day was great Arrow Trekking & Safaris had offered plenty of activities during our trip in Tanzania such as an hot air balloon ride, visit to the local Masai village and of course the brilliant safari. Honestly, if you are debating on whether to come here, don’t and just come here. I cannot recommend this company enough.Posted on Imre BakkerVerified That was very incredible! We traveled to the Serengeti, Kilimanjaro, and Zanzibar, all of which had the most incredible accommodations. We learned a great deal from this adventure. Which accommodation should we select? Which is the best option as they are all so different from one another? What time of day would be best to go? How many nights should we spend in each location? When planning an amazing safari, the little things matter most: travel dates, packing lists, bush aircraft, and distances. We heartily recommend Arrow Trekking and Safaris.
