Activities:
Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you’ll be greeted by Arrow Trekking & Safaris representatives, who will ensure your smooth transfer to a comfortable hotel in Arusha. This day is all about settling in, meeting your guides, and receiving an informative pre-trek briefing. During the briefing, your guides will outline the itinerary, discuss safety protocols, and check your gear to ensure you are fully prepared for the adventure ahead. You’ll also have the chance to ask questions and make any last-minute adjustments.
What to Expect:
Rest, recover from travel fatigue, and mentally prepare for the trek.
Meals and Accommodation:
Dinner can be arranged as an add-on, and you’ll stay overnight in Arusha.
After breakfast, you will be driven from your hotel in Arusha to Machame Gate, which is the starting point of your trek. You’ll begin your climb through the lush tropical rainforest. The trail is relatively easy, with gradual ascents, and provides an excellent opportunity to spot wildlife like monkeys and various bird species.
Upon reaching Machame Camp, you'll have a hot dinner and set up your camp for the night, under the stars. The cold night air signals that you are beginning to ascend into higher altitudes.
The day begins with a steady ascent through the dense forest before transitioning into a moorland zone. The terrain gradually becomes rockier as you approach Shira Camp. Along the way, you'll be able to see stunning views of the Kilimanjaro summit and the surrounding landscapes. Shira Camp offers breathtaking views of the western breach and the snow-capped summit.
At Shira Camp, you will rest and enjoy a nutritious dinner prepared by the guides. Here, you will begin your body’s adjustment to the altitude.
On Day 3, the trek takes you across a high-altitude desert landscape, passing the Lava Tower (4,600 m), which offers spectacular views of the surrounding plains. After crossing the Lava Tower, you'll descend to Barranco Camp to help your body acclimatize to the higher altitude.
The Barranco Wall, a steep ascent, is a famous feature of the route. It can be a challenging climb, but it is very rewarding, providing stunning views and an exciting experience.
At Barranco Camp, you’ll have an early dinner and rest, ensuring that you are ready for the final push toward the summit.
Today, you’ll hike through the Karanga Valley, before continuing the challenging ascent to Barafu Camp, where you’ll make your base camp before the summit attempt. The terrain is dry, rocky, and harsh, yet you will be surrounded by stunning views of the mountain and glaciers.
At Barafu Camp, you will have an early dinner, rest, and prepare for the long summit night ahead. The guides will brief you on the summit attempt, ensuring that you are mentally and physically ready for the challenge.
Your day begins in the middle of the night. At around midnight or 1 AM, you’ll start your final push to the summit. The climb to Uhuru Peak is challenging and will test your endurance, but the reward is well worth it. As you ascend through the Arctic Zone, you'll experience frigid temperatures and thin air.
After several hours of intense hiking, you will finally reach the summit, Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), where you will be rewarded with magnificent views and a sense of accomplishment as you stand atop Africa’s highest point. After a brief celebration, you will descend to Mweka Camp for the night.
On the final day of your trek, you will descend through the lush rainforest to Mweka Gate, where you will sign out. Afterward, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Arusha to relax, celebrate your achievement, and enjoy a well-deserved rest.

We were assisted by Isaack throughout our whole stay in Tanzania. He arranged our safari, Mt. Kilimanjaro hike, accommodation, and transport. Everything went very smooth and Isaack was always available when we had questions, we could count on him when needed. Furthermore, his English is very good and he handles in a transparent way. Overall, we had a very positive experience and would definitely recommend Arrow trekking for people looking to visit Tanzania!Posted on Miria vVerified Incredible 4-Day Camping Safari The 4-day camping safari was truly incredible! It was full of adventure from start to finish—sleeping under the stars, waking up to the sounds of the wild, connecting with the other people in the same safari and exploring breathtaking landscapes. Our guide was fantastic, and we saw SO much wildlife; the Big Five but also much more! The only downside was that the itinerary and campsite were different from what I had originally agreed on, and I only found out at the start of the safari. Still, the experience itself was so great that it didn’t take away from the trip at all.Highly recommended for anyone looking for a raw, exciting, and unforgettable safari adventure!Posted on Clement DVerified Great ascent! Thanks for the trip of a lifetime Arrow Trekking & Safaris driver, we met in Arusha and took off, traveling to Tarangire NP, Lake Eyasi, the Serengeti, the Ngorongoro Crater, Mount Meru, and Lake Natron before flying to Zanzibar. We experienced how the Hadzabe tribes live while on a day-long culture tour near Lake Eyasi; the highlights for that day included my sister getting "married" to a Hanzabe tribesman and our failure at using a bow. I was even able to buy one of the Hadzabe instruments with the help of Alex, our local guide. Also, according to Mr lsaack, we were super lucky, as we were witness to both a leopard eating in a tree and a lion using our vehicle as shade while traveling through the Serengeti. The time we spent in Tanzania was off-the-charts amazing and heaping in culture. Arrow Trekking $ Safaris is full of friendly staff, who are willing to work with budgetary restraints and add customizable additions to trips. My family and I highly recommend! Thanks for the trip of a lifetimePosted on Prajwal GVerified Amazing safari day was great Arrow Trekking & Safaris had offered plenty of activities during our trip in Tanzania such as an hot air balloon ride, visit to the local Masai village and of course the brilliant safari. Honestly, if you are debating on whether to come here, don’t and just come here. I cannot recommend this company enough.Posted on Imre BakkerVerified That was very incredible! We traveled to the Serengeti, Kilimanjaro, and Zanzibar, all of which had the most incredible accommodations. We learned a great deal from this adventure. Which accommodation should we select? Which is the best option as they are all so different from one another? What time of day would be best to go? How many nights should we spend in each location? When planning an amazing safari, the little things matter most: travel dates, packing lists, bush aircraft, and distances. We heartily recommend Arrow Trekking and Safaris.
